UTP is Committed to Promoting Sustainability

Sustainability

Concern for the environment and promoting a broader sustainability agenda are integral to UTP’s professional activities and the management of the organisation.

We aim to follow and to promote good sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities and to help our employees, clients and partners to do the same. At the same time, we are committed to providing our personnel with a safe and sustainable working environment.

Purpose-built facility

To that end, our purpose-built facility, opened in 2017, was designed to maximise the working environment.

The 2,763m² building incorporates Interseasonal Heat Transfer™, a system by ICAX that integrates ground source heat pumps and seasonal thermal energy storage with a sophisticated energy management system, resulting in a totally automated system that balances the temperature throughout the building, providing UTP with sustainable, low carbon emission heating or cooling all year round. The system incorporates a clean air system, delivering filtered air at an ambient temperature to ensure a comfortable, healthy working environment.

Building for the future

Inside_Panorama1alternative2

The state-of-the-art building structure was designed to be sympathetic to the heating system to ensure a consistent and constant ambient temperature and to minimise energy loss.

The state of the art LED lighting system, driven by motion sensors, is fully automated and in use only when required. The entire facility is designed to be as energy-efficient as it is possible to be.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

A manufacturing facility by definition produces waste, including metals, wood, paper, cardboard and so on. All of our waste is carefully sorted and recycled wherever possible, in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

The UTP site is near Daedalus Airport, with wide open spaces on the doorstep. The landscape surrounding the facility has been laid out and planted to encourage an eclectic mix of wildlife to flourish, and the site is maintained to a standard that is pleasing and acceptable to the local community as well as offering our employees a pleasant place to work.
