How do I arrange for Utopia to supply Panoramas ?
I'm a WebDesigner - can I deal on behalf of my clients ?
What is a Panoramic image?
- Utopia produce panoramas that offer you a complete field of view, from earth to sky, floor to ceiling, and horizon to horizon.
These images are technically known as "spherical
panoramas" since they are composed of two opposing
fisheye (8mm) images.
- These panoramas are full-environment, 360° X 360° photographs viewable
in any web-browser. Utopia can produce a variety of multimedia functions such as automatic navigation, zooming, playing background music, and linking to text, audio, standard photographs, URLs, video, and other images.
How are Utopia Panoramas produced ?
- Our professional equipment includes a tripod, fisheye lens,
special precision rotator and the latest high definition
Nikon digital camera. We usually arrive on location with a
complete duplicate kit as well, in case of accident.
Camera placement and orientation for panoramas is as much
an art as a science. Approximately similar light levels
for the back-to-back shots are carefully calculated and
the position of the join, or 'seam' between the image pair
is judged based upon background detail and the potential
for movement across this seam.
- Utopia always take a series of bracketed exposures for
each panorama. Images are carefully layered in Photoshop
to bring out the vibrancy of the image, produce detail in
areas of deep shade, and to reduce the harsh glare from
windows, for example.
How large is a Panorama ?
- Typically we produce images within the range 80 - 180
kbytes depending on the resolution required.
Do I need a Plug-In to view your panoramas ?
- All our panoramic images may be viewed without the need
for a browser plug-in. We provide the java viewer files
together with simple instructions so that your webmaster
can include these images on your website easily and
quickly.
